Celebrating Elizabeth Mayne
Her selfless acts of love and those
benevolence have forever changed the
lives of those in need
Elizabeth Mayne was an inspiring person with a heart of gold. She reached out to those in need with a soothing smile and warm words of advice. She opened her home to anyone wanting a helping hand. She was a loving, humble, compassionate, and family-orientated woman who wanted to make this world a better place. Elizabeth Mayne changed lives.
Being a mother is tough business. Nothing is optional. Elizabeth took her responsibilities very seriously. As a devoted mom, she worked tirelessly to take care of her kids. There were no sick days, no holidays, and no time for herself. She personally did the groceries every day, cooking fresh for her family. Her care and concern extended beyond her children to their friends. At mealtime, there was always an empty plate on the table for the “unknown guest.” She always showed her care and concern for family and friends, even during tough economic times. When beggars came to the house, they always received some food or alms for their families. Her care and concern starched through good times and bad. When friends lost loved ones, Elizabeth made sure to visit them with a home cooked meal to show her support.
Elizabeth was a devout Catholic and faith-filled, even when faced with turmoil and adversities. She regularly attended Sunday Mass and had great devotion to Mother Mary. She was a member of the legion of Mary. Her faith defined her love humanity, particularly to those in need. She lived like a true Christian, with humility and dedication to the less fortunate.
Elizabeth Mayne passed in 1992. She is still dearly missed by her family. Her endless acts of love and kindness still live in the hearts and minds of her children. She inspired everyone she met and left a lasting impression through her deeds and actions. She will be dearly missed.
To celebrate her dutiful and selfless life, the family started the Elizabeth Mayne Foundation to continue her acts of love and mercy and forever change the lives of those in need. The foundation is supporting the Elizabeth Mayne Children’s Home of 120 children, which is being managed and run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
We, the family of Elizabeth & Melville Mayne, thanks all the mothers who have sacrificed so much, cried rivers, spent many a sleepless night worrying about their kids, and forfeiting their personal comforts to raise their families.
